2. What is LCL (Less than Container Load)?
LCL shipping is designed for smaller shipments that do not require the space of an entire container. In an LCL arrangement, your cargo shares space within a container with goods from other shippers. These consolidated shipments are managed by a freight forwarder or NVOCC (Non-Vessel Operating Common Carrier) who collects various smaller consignments, loads them into a single container, and then de-consolidates them at the destination.
